The party continues their exploration of the Tor by spelling out the password on the stone tiles to activate a portal to another part of the dungeon, where a really tough undead/demon monster lady is waiting for them…
The group takes a beating – except for Gweener, who is really good at hitting his fellow party members. This episode was a lot of fun, but they only got the boss down to bloodied before we had to stop. We’ll finish up next week!
We’re back! Finally! It’s been a long time, we’ve lost a few friends, but we’ve made some new ones! Unfortunately, Steven had to leave the group for family reasons, but we recruited Rob Wakefield to pick up where Drew left off. Enter Arannis, the Eladrin Avenger! In this episode the group enters a room with a very… um… obvious puzzle, but its guarded by some pretty tough, hard-hitting constructs. Enjoy!
Here’s the map from the Stormcrow Tor Adventure we used for this encounter:

Sorry it took so long to get this out, but I think you guys will like this!
In this special episode, we go back to before the party met on the way to Winterhaven and get to see how the Changling Assassin was forced to take up the disguise of Gweener, the Gnome Rogue.
Hired to assasinate a local Baron, he stumbles into a lavish Dinner Party… a dinner party of MURDER! Things keep going wrong for our hero, and they don’t end much better… let’s just say that it’s never good to get fired from a Guild of Assassins – I hear their termination policy is pretty severe…
This episode was sort of an experiment to see how we could do some side-stories. I tried to run it very loosely – rules were followed when applicable, but most of the time I was playing by ear and just going with the flow. It’s a whole different experience when you’re RPing with just one other person, instead of a group, but I had fun.
Hope you enjoy this episode, and let us know if you want to hear more like these!
Also, here are the maps I made for this session. Feel free to use them in your own campaign (Click for the large image)

The party is still being hammered on by these Flamespikers summoned from a magic fire, and to make matters worse, Gweener mysteriously disappears (allegedly for Memorial Day BBQ).
They took a beating, but they managed to get the job done.
Yes, this is the Final Episode of Season 1! Greg is getting some learnin’ done to him, and we won’t be able to meet for our normal sessions for awhile, so we’re going to take a break for awhile… but don’t be sad!
We will still have an episode out every week, but the games format will change a bit until we can get back together again (about a month or so), and then we’ll continue moving forward. We’re going to roleplay some flashbacks to learn more about the characters – leaving the investigation into the Stormcrow Tor at a cliffhanger… as they take a nap in the summoning room…
Its an exciting experiment that we hope you’ll join us for!
Also, please welcome Steve Erickson, who originally joined us as a Guest member, but is now an official regular on the show. He’ll be joining us with a new character during the break and we’ll have an episode that chronicles the journey that brings him to be with the group.
Introduction
If you’ve been following the adventures of the Combat Cast group via our Web site or on Twitter (@CombatCast), you know that we’ve just finished the published 4e module, H1 – Keep on the Shadowfell. We’ll soon be branching off onto our own homebrewed campaign adventures, but we thought we would talk a little bit about how we facilitate our game via tools freely available over the Internet.
The tools in question are pretty well known:
- Maptools, which is a robust, Java-based (Mac and Linux users are included, yay!) application that simulates the table top experience
- Skype, everyone’s ‘favorite’ VoIP communication tool.
- We’ve also recently added USTREAM to our toolbox, for streaming our gaming sessions to anyone who cares to watch.
- Optionally, if you wanted to record your sessions, there are a number of plug-ins for Skype to let you do that (Mac seems to have better options than Windows for this, but it’s possible on either one).
- We use Audacity to clean up, edit, and save our audio files into podcast-friendly formats.
We’ll go into a little more detail on how we setup and use each of these tools.
